Irwin Hasen Remembered

"Irwin Hasen, the cartoonist and comic-book artist who drew, and helped create, “Dondi,” the widely syndicated comic strip about a lovable, wide-eyed World War II orphan, died on Friday in Manhattan. He was 96."

More HERE from the article by COREY KILGANNON in MARCH 15, 2015's New York Times "Arts" Section.

Irwin was a beloved friend and teacher, and a greatly-admired and highly-esteemed member of the New York cartoonists community. I was a student of his at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art in the late 80's, and still have vivid memories of his lessons and anecdotes. It was always a treat whenever he made it out to our NCS Chapter get-togethers. Irwin had a long life, well-lived, but he'll still be greatly missed. They don't make 'em like that any more.
