It's a Rube Goldberg themed happy hour, as as Rube's granddaughter, Jennifer, opens up her home to us for a lovely night of catered food, booze and art.

Jeff Keane to receive Silver T-Square Award

"IT’S ONE OF the oldest U.S. awards in comics, rich in history and lore, from presidents of the nation to presidents of its professional organization. And now, that award is also all in the family.

The National Cartoonists Society has just announced that Jeff Keane, the “Family Circus” artist and former head of the NCS, will receive the 2015 Silver T-Square Award — which the group says is “awarded, by unanimous vote of the NCS Board of Directors, to persons who have demonstrated outstanding dedication or service to the Society or the profession.”

Classical music gets a hilarious twist when a certain Wascally Wabbit gets involved. This side-splitting tribute for all ages* features Bugs Bunny’s greatest classic Looney Tunes projected on a huge screen with the New York Philharmonic playing Carl Stalling’s original scores — inspired by Wagner (Kill de Wabbit!),Rossini (The Rabbit of Seville), and Liszt — live!
Join us on Saturday, May 16th at 7:30!  We've got 2 sets of seats available:

The NCS at New York Comic-Con

New York Comic-Con 2014 arrives at the Jacob Javits Center this week, Thursday, October 9th - Sunday October 12th, and the National Cartoonists Society will be there! "Irwin - A New York Story", 9/3/14 @ Society Of Illustrators


"IRWIN - A NEW YORK STORY"

Dan Makara's documentary film on the life and work of legendary cartoonist Irwin Hasen comes to the Society of Illustrators [128 East 63rd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues
New York, NY 10065 Tel: (212) 838-2560] on Wednesday, September 3rd, 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

Join us for a screening of the documentary "Irwin: A New York Story", directed by Dan Makara. The film follows the life of Irwin Hasen, a 96-year-old comic book creator and strip artist, as he shares his memories of childhood and the Golden Age of Comics.

The film will be followed with a panel discussion led by Ed Steckley and includes Hy Eisman, Al Jaffee, Karen Green, and Arnold Roth.

A small reception will follow.
